Evening in the Study
Evening in the Study begins when the overhead light goes off. A bowl of raspberries, a bar of chocolate snapped in two, a dry crackle of pepper in the air, and behind it all the old leather that has soaked up a hundred evenings. The scent opens short and bright: berry, pepper, cocoa.
Toward the night the berry fades and what remains sits close to the skin: the smoke of vanilla, dry dark wood, the slow depth of oud. Not a sweet scent but a warm one, like embers that keep glowing long after the fire is out.
